they can tolerate less light than desert cacti

Love as much indoor light as you can get it but use caution when placing outdoors in the hottest brightest months (may be prone to burning)

Water thoroughly and then allow the soil to dry about halfway between waterings

then water to the point of saturation

making it a wonderful plant for gifting

A slight tolerance to having hands exposed to nettle (albeit dried) which can be mildly and temporarily irritating to skin

but will do best in with a few hours of full sun
