This Privacy Policy explains how Excel Academy ("Excel Academy", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal data when you visit our website, contact us, or use our courses and mobile app. We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and other applicable laws.

1. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to provide our services:

  • Contact details you give us, such as your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, and the programmes you are interested in, when you fill in a form or message us.
  • Account details when you register on our learning platform or app, such as your name, email address, profile photo and password (stored in encrypted form).
  • Learning records, such as the courses you enrol in, your progress, quiz and mock-exam results, and points earned.
  • Payment records, such as the course purchased, amount, date and transaction reference. Card details are entered directly with our payment provider; we do not receive or store your full card number.
  • Technical data, such as your device type, browser and basic usage information, which helps us keep the service secure and working properly.

2. How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account and give you access to the courses you purchase.
  • To respond to your enquiries and provide tutor and student support.
  • To process payments and keep records required by law.
  • To send you updates about your courses, and, where you have agreed, information about our programmes. You can opt out of promotional messages at any time.
  • To improve our courses, website and app, and to protect them against fraud and misuse.

We rely on your consent, the performance of our agreement with you, our legal obligations, and our legitimate interest in running and improving our services.

3. Messages sent through our website

When you submit the "Send us a message" form on this website, your details are placed into a WhatsApp message to our official number. The message is only sent when you press send in WhatsApp. WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to that conversation.

4. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run Excel Academy, and only as needed:

  • Payment processors (such as Paystack) to process your payments.
  • Hosting, database, email and notification providers that store and deliver our services.
  • Messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, when you choose to contact us there.
  • Authorities, where we are required to do so by law.

Some of these providers may store data outside Nigeria. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your data remains protected.

5. How long we keep your information

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services, and afterwards only for as long as required for legal, tax, accounting or dispute-resolution purposes. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

  • ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • ask us to delete your data, where we have no legal reason to keep it;
  • object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time;
  • ask for your data in a portable format; and
  • lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
